City Of Heroes Going Freetoplay

NCsoft has announced City of Heroes: Freedom, a free-to-play version of the popular super-hero MMO.

With 20 free expansions, more than 1,600 missions and 375,000 user-generated missions, Freedom will offer over seven years of content, for free.

After an unforgettable seven years, the City of Heroes franchise remains the worlds most popular super-powered MMO, and were excited to continue that momentum with Freedom, said Brian Clayton, executive producer at Paragon Studios.

Through City of Heroes Freedom, we will be delivering more content to CoH Influence players than ever before, while continuing to expand the ever-evolving City of Heroes storyline and legacy.

The release of Freedom will coincide with new content in the form of Issue 21: Convergence, which includes First Ward a new co-op area gripped in conflict as well as a new Power Set, the eagerly-anticipated Underground Incarnate Trial and two full costume sets.

Starting July 1, those already subscribed to the game will be given 400 Paragon City of Heroes influence every month up until the launch of Freedom, which can be spent on costumes, items and services once the new game arrives.

City of Heroes Freedom and Issue 21 will both launch later in the year.
