Reuters opens Second Life news bureau

International news organisation Reuters is opening up a news bureau in Second Life.

Embedded reporter Adam Pasick, from London, will be reporting in-game and keeping the virtual office up to date with the latest happenings.

"In Second Life, we're making Reuters part of a new generation," Reuters Chief Executive Tom Glocer said in a statement. "We're playing an active role in this community by bringing the outside world into Second Life and vice versa."

Gamers in the world will be able to carry a virtual PDA programmed to show the latest Reuters feeds. Pasick will be reporting both on in-game happenings and on events going on in the 'real' world.

Using the teleporting feature in the game, those interested in a news story can congregate together to discuss it."As strange as it might seem, it's not that different from being a reporter in the real world," Pasick said. "Once you get used to it - it becomes very much like the job I have been doing for years.&Second life linden;
